Two Shreveport brothers go to the ends of the world for Chilean comics
Sam and Chris Cannon have a new gig that is unlike anything they have ever done, and in fact, they think they might be the first to do it, period.
Their business, Ends of the World Comics, involves going to a place that some of the people who live there call the “end of the world,” and importing their national treasures to the U.S.
The national treasures are comic books. Or, if you want to be more academic in your description, they are graphic novels, which according to professor Sam Cannon are two names for the same thing.
The story of how Sam has become a “go-to” source for the Chilean Minister of Foreign Affairs, how he was invited to Chile to review and give recommendations to the government about the country’s comic book industry, and how Sam and brother Chris are now working with the Chilean government to help get the word out about this industry, is a remarkable one. It began when Sam was 19, only he didn’t realize it then.
